How angry, disappointed and utterly let down I feel by the latest news about the Wickford masterplan (Feb 25).

We have truly been sold down the river once again. Or was it Basildon Council’s plan all along?

Poor old Wickford has been ripped apart, demolished and had its soul ripped out, changed beyond recognition.

Old companies we grew up with have gone forever. The town has been left segmented, mismatched and in many places looking like the aftermath from a bombing raid.

We had been promised a modern, pleasing town centre we could be proud of with restaurants, family spaces and a much needed new swimming pool.

Shame on you Basildon councillors, bring on the ballot box when I can show you what I think of you.
