Dale Farm should be made into a mobile home park

Isn’t it time the Dale Farm charade was brought to a close? If it goes on much longer the cost of eviction will equal the national debt.

From the day the first caravan rolled on to the illegal part of the site, Basildon Council has been outsmarted and outmanoeuvred.

It is time to recognise the Dale Farm Mobile Home Park exists.

No doubt from the pictures in the press that’s what it really is. No one can call themselves a traveller when it needs two specialist transporters to move their “caravan”.

It very easy for the councillors to sit back and spend our money on a lost cause.

If there is an odd couple of million to spend I wouldn’t begrudge that if it was spent on a deep ditch and a lot of razor wire to stop the place getting any bigger.

Any surplus could be spent on compensating those who feel aggrieved by the presence of the “travellers”.

As a properly recognised mobile home park, the rules applying to them could be imposed (including the standard of the buildings and their replacement).

what a load of crap, are you thinking that the travellers are going to change if it is made into a mobile home park, or are you thinking get rid of them then turn it into a mobile home park maybe another thorney bay like the one on canvey island with a clubhouse and swimming pool, the council have probably made one of the best decisions ever over breach of planning this will make anyone else who wants to move out of their house into a mobile home think again

How can it now be recognised as a mobile home park when the whole point of all this in the first place was its on green belt land, its got to go as you would want it to go if it was built next to you regardless of what it is,

I don't mind then staying if I can build an extension on my bungalow without planning permission!

Give in to one lot and heaven help anyone with an empty field next to their home!

Mr Rust, rust has got into your brain!

If the residents at Dale Farm were nice respectable folk just looking for a cheap place to set up home your suggestion might be worth considering. It would of course mean that on principle any other British citizen should have the same right otherwise it would be a case of descrimination on grounds of ethnicity.

No, sorry Bob a residential park would not do for these outlaws. There have been plently of places on offer for years on Essex parks but it is the matter of conforming to laws and regulation that goes against their "culture". They would insist on grazing areas, stables, parking for 4x4s, sports cars, pick ups, community areas (to stash the loot) etc. etc.
This whole farce alas is the result of people within Basildon council's area sitting back and letting it happen. Loud demos and publicity work better than traditional methods where things like this are concerned.
