Postal voters may miss out

Residents registered for postal votes need to send a specimen signature and restate their date of birth on a pre-printed form to their local authority every five years.

So those who were registered as absent voters before March 14, 2007, need to do this if they wish to continue to be postal voters.

Residents were to be informed before the end of January 2012, but this did not happen in Castle Point There is no evidence on the council’s website indicating this requirement, unlike more diligent adjoining authorities.
