Rayleigh is now well and truly in the digital age regarding rail and bus travel with electronic indicator information boards.
But the digital information does not always match the service provided.
I thought I was just in time to catch a No 1 Arriva service to Rayleigh Weir, from the stop in Eastwood Road. The imminent arrival of the bus was displayed in bright lights. I put my arm out to indicate to the driver I would like him to stop, but the bus sailed past straight into the traffic queue ahead.
I caught up with it and tapped on the door to say “You missed me.” The answer came back; “I don’t stop there. It’s around the corner".
Seems that a lack of joined up thinking and common sense has the upper hand.
