Consultation a waste of £250k

The first lot of consultation literature relating to the local plan for Castle Point duly arrived and included a glossy document which specified the three roles of the plan.

The second of these roles is “to decide where and how new development could take place”.

Nowhere on the attached questionnaire was there provision for residents to make their views known on this.

It rather looks like another quarter of a million pounds is about to be blown on an irrelevant exercise.

It really is about time Castle Point Council comes to terms with the fact residents want to know how many and what type of houses are needed. They should also be asked to consider where these houses are to be built.

Only when these questions are addressed and resolved should the council start filling in all the well meaning text to the local plan.
