So bored with footie pundits

Why do we have to endure 30 minutes or so of football punditry before a match begins on television, then a further 15 minutes at half time, and then more at the end?

The talk is often tedious, mundane and stale, mostly from footballers and presenters who have made their reputations as players. As these people are reported to be very highly paid, couldn’t their time on television be reduced to reasonable levels and thereby help to lower the costs of licenses.

They could be dispensed with altogether as radio is the medium where summaries are really essential.
