Let's see more airport growth

With the tree huggers out in force because we need a third runway at Heathrow Airport, there is a simple answer to the problem.

Having used Southend Airport and found it so easy, we should push for its further expansion.

This would bring in more jobs and more finance, which are certainly needed.

It is no use the local nimbys jumping on their high horses over a little bit of noise. I live in Leigh and can say the noise from the planes in negligible.

Rochford is ripe for development as the property surrounding the airport is low-grade land, and I am sure the people who live there would be quite pleased to move to a nicer area.

Still it could be worse, you could be a local estate agent who bought a property on a flight path and now constantly moans about the noise, how silly is that ! If anyone should know better!

I find this letter quite harsh. When you live near to an airport that was not a very big one to start off with, with only small planes it doesn't matter about minimal noise. You'd don't expect to have to move because Southend council decides to ruin everything southend has let alone disturb the residents of Rochford. Why have an airport with nothing else around it but an old villiage and a great big Tesco? It's where it is that matters and many people feel it's not in the right place. You living in Leigh will have no idea about what it'd like to live so close to the airport.
I see the point that it makes jobs and money but no one wats to live next to an airport which means house prices around that area will now go down and make it harder to sell there also. It's always a chain reaction with these things.
