Why should Thurrock get Canvey’s traffic?
Canvey MP Bob Spink seems not to have the slightest consideration for the residents of Corringham and Stanford.
Against local protests, they are to have Europe's largest port dumped on their doorstep. This will cause traffic noise and chaos on a scale not seen in the area before on a daily basis.
Nothing regarding diverting port traffic from between Corringham and Stanford is to be done, so it appears.
To add an access road from Canvey would lead to an impossible situation for local residents to contend with. It seems Mr Spink's only thoughts are for the residents and businesses of Canvey and damn everybody else.
I would like to point out the reason for congestion on and off of Canvey is because people chose to live there and the local council approved building too many households for the road infrastructure.
Mr Spink should also be reminded a recent proposal for a third way off Canvey was met with a "not in my back yard" response.
Would Mr Spink be so accommodating to the Manorway link if the refinery and port traffic turned east instead of west and roared down Canvey Way?
