A PUB manager is hoping to prove she has the X-Factor after making it through the first round of the nationwide televised singing competition.
As licensee of the Horse and Groom pub in Southend Road, Rochford, Carley Gibson is more often seen pulling pints behind the bar.
But the 29-year-old swapped pint glasses for a microphone this week when she auditioned in the preliminary round of the hit ITV show.
Carley, of London Road, Rayleigh, waited for 12 hours at the O2 Arena, in London on Tuesday, before performing the African slave spiritual song, Wading the Water, in front of a judge.
She said: “I thought the song was a bit different.
“Most of the girls were singing up-to-date music, and I know the song quite well. I’m hopeful about my chances in the next round.”
Her next audition is next week at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. If she gets through, Carley will perform in front of Simon Cowell.
