SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has revealed a new midfielder will be coming to the club on Thursday.
Blues have agreed a loan deal with an experienced player, believed to be at a Championship club.
But his fitness levels will need to be checked before any transfer is completed.
“The deal has been agreed, but it won’t be done until we are happy he is over his injury,” confirmed Southend manager Paul Sturrock.
“He will report for training on Thursday so we can assess his fitness but I still think we need another player as well as him.”
Southend have been short of options in midfield for most of the season and suffered a further blow in that area on Saturday when Michael Timlin picked up an ankle injury during the 1-0 defeat at Morecambe.
