Southend United make three changes for Aldershot game
7:45pm Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in Sport By Chris Phillips
Mark Phillips - back in the starting line-up
SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has made three changes to his starting line-up for tonight’s game against Aldershot at Roots Hall.
Two of the alterations have been enforced in the centre of the park where Alex Woodyard and John Spicer have both been recalled in place of the injured Michael Timlin and Ryan Leonard.
Timlin misses out with the ankle injury he sustained at Morecambe on Saturday while Leonard is also absent with a tight hamstring.
The third change comes in defence where Anthony Straker has been left out against his former side, in place of Mark Phillips.
As a result, Chris Barker switches to left-back with Phillips partnering Ryan Cresswell at the heart of the back four.
The rest of the team remains unchanged with Gavin Tomlin in attack alongside Britt Assombalonga, meaning Freddy Eastwood stays among the substitutes.
Southend United: Smith, Clohessy, Phillips, Cresswell, Barker, Hurst, Spicer, Woodyard, Martin, Tomlin, Assombalonga
Substitutes: Straker, Coughlan, Eastwood, Clarke-Harris, Bentley, Paxman & Benyon
