Barry Corr - wants to be celebrating again this evening

SOUTHEND United striker Barry Corr wants to continue his fine FA Cup scoring record when Bury visit Roots Hall in a second round replay at Roots Hall tonight.

Corr, who looks set to be restored to the starting line-up, has bagged five goals in his last five games in the competition.

And, after missing a last gasp chance to score a winner against the Shakers in the first meeting between the two teams, the Irishman is desperate to hit the back of the net again this evening.

“I’ve done well in the FA Cup in the past few seasons and I want to keep that going by scoring again tonight,” said Corr, 27.

“I want to get another goal to help us win the game and get through to the next round, especially as I missed a chance to win it when we played them before.

“I do keep on thinking about it when I’m going to bed at night and think it would’ve gone in it if was just a few centimetres the other way.

“It’s the same with the chance against Brentford which hit the bar and did actually cross the line when you look at the replay.

“But the encouraging thing is that every time I’ve been on the pitch I’ve had chances to score and want to put one away this evening.”

Corr is expected to come in to the side in place of the on loan Britt Assombalonga, who has been denied permission to play by his parent club Watford.

And he eager to help keep Blues in the FA Cup to set up a third round tie against Brentford.

“I need games after coming back from injury and the FA Cup is a good chance for me to get them, with Britt not being able to play,” said Corr.

“I don’t think we played as well as we can when we drew 1-1 with Bury when we first played them so hopefully we’ll do better tonight.

“People say the cup competitions aren’t as important but once you cross that white line you want to win whatever game you’re playing and that will definitely be the case for us this evening.”
