BILLERICAY owner Grant Gordon said they would have been happy to play the match which was postponed against Farnborough at New Lodge on Saturday.
The referee called the game off 75 minutes before it was due to kick-off after ruling the weather-affected pitch was not safe to play on.
It prompted Farnborough manager Spencer Day to say they had made a complaint to the FA through the referee’s report, because he felt a decision should have been made to call off the game before they travelled to Essex.
Gordon said he had “no idea” what might happen as a result of any complaint, but said: “We played Chelmsford on our pitch on new Year’s Day and it had not rained since. “We know it’s not Wembley but people had worked hard on it, and we were prepared to play on it.”
Town return to Conference South action tonight with a trip to second-from-bottom Eastleigh.
Billericay won the reverse fixture 4-0 in September, but Gordon said: “This is away on a Tuesday night, so I don’t think that result with have any bearing here.”
The home game with Farnborough has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 15.
