BASILDON ended a run of seven games without a win by beating Romford & Gidea Park 12-5.

The victory pushed Basildon up a place to 12th in the 14 team table.

But Rochford Hundred remain bottom of the standings after losing 41-15 at Ruislip.

Rochford had been hoping to secure a double over their hosts after beating them earlier on in the season.

However, a repeat of that score-line never looked likely on Saturday despite taking the lead with a Dylan Boxtel penalty.

Ruislip hit back with a trio of tries and a penalty before full-back Marcus Spremulli finished off a good period of Rochford play to score in the corner.

But the home team finished off the first half with a converted try to turn round 29 – 8 up at the break.

Another converted try early in the second session from Ruislip rubbed salt into the wound and the game continued with both Ruislip and Rochford fighting it out for possession with the home side coming off stronger.

But in a reply, a good piece of fierce running by Rochford centre Gavin Tusini saw him drive over for a try which Boxtel converted but it was too little to late and a finishing sixth try by the home side emphasised just that.
