Britt Assombalonga - out injured
BLUES are waiting to find out if striker Britt Assombalonga will be fit for Saturday’s clash at Chesterfield.
The forward, who has played just once since Boxing Day, has returned to his parent club, Watford, for treatment on an ankle injury.
And boss Paul Sturrock has yet to hear from the Hornets about his progress.
“Britt had a reaction to the injury when he trained last week and we’re waiting to hear from Watford,” confirmed Sturrock.
“If he’s not fit, he won’t be risked, but we’d like to get him back playing as soon as we can.”
However, there is more promising news on Kevan Hurst (back), Marc Laird (hamstring) and Ryan Cresswell (shoulder), with all three in with a chance of taking on the Spireites at the weekend.
“Ryan, Kevan and Marc will be given right up until kick-off,” said Sturrock.
“They are key players and the game will be much tougher without them.
“It’s still early in the week, so hopefully by the time Saturday comes around they will be ready to go.
“But having that little break has certainly helped because they are big players for us.”
