Gary Sullivan OBE elected chairman of Active Essex

GARY Sullivan OBE has been elected chairman of Active Essex following the resignation of David East.

Mr Sullivan was chairman of the Essex Olympic Strategic Board and oversaw the delivery of activities such as the Olympic Torch Relay in the county and the Essex Ambassadors volunteer programme.

“ I am really excited to build on the success of what was a fantastic year of sport, not only for Essex but the whole of the UK, which I was very lucky to be involved with,” said Mr Sullivan.

He takes over from Mr East, who was also chief executive of Essex County Cricket Club, who is taking up the chief executive post with the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club and Emirates Cricket Board.

Active Essex is the sport and physical activity partnership for Essex which is hosted by Essex County Council.
