SOUTHEND United midfielder Michael Timlin suffered a suspected broken leg during his side's 1-0 win at Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

Timlin was carried off in the closing stages of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern section final first leg.

And Blues boss Paul Sturrock could not hide his disappointment at the final whistle.

“I’m gutted for the lad because he’s been a real professional and stalwart of the team in recent times, he worked so hard again tonight and always gives absolutely everything,” saud Sturrock.

“All the lads wanted to know how he was as soon as they stepped off the pitch, we have a real togetherness here and hopefully he will make a quick recovery.”
