BLUES boss Paul Sturrock believes his side are in with a real chance of reaching Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

But the Scotsman has also warned his players to not take anything for granted.

Southend will take a 1-0 lead in to the second leg of their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern section final against Leyton Orient in a fortnight’s time.

And Sturrock is delighted to be in front.

“I’m very pleased because I thought the whole team worked extremely hard and stuck to the game plan,” said Sturrock.

“I said before the game we don’t want to be out of the tie and we defended well to make that happen.

“However, it’s only half-time in the tie and the second leg will be very hard.

“But there’s no doubt that this result has given us a real chance and I’m sure Roots Hall will be absolutely packed for the second-leg so hopefully we can get to Wembley.”
