BEN Reeves has urged his Southend United side to regroup and recover against Northampton Town this weekend.

Blues slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Cheltenham Town at Roots Hall on Tuesday night.

And the on loan Southampton midfielder now wants to help the team immediately get back to winning ways against the Cobblers.

“This is the time when we have to rally together and get behind each other because we’re missing a lot of players through injury and it’s a big game on Saturday,” said Reeves, who capped an impressive display with a late goal against the Robins.

“That’s another crucial game for us and we know it’s a game we need to win.

“They are doing well at the moment but if we can work hard on the training ground over the next couple of days then I’m sure we can get a positive result in front of the home fans.”

Blues dropped to ninth in the League Two table after the midweek defeat, two points below the play-offs.

But Reeves insists Southend are still confident of maintaining a push for promotion.

“The team spirit here is absolutely brilliant and I’m sure that we will be able to turn it around and win on Saturday,” said Reeves.

“We know we’re good enough to go on a run, we just need a couple of good performances and we can be right back in contention so hopefully that can start this weekend.”
