Singular success at last for Walton

BLASE Walton won his first Southend & District LTA singles title when the association held their winter finals.

Then he teamed up with fellow Westcliff Lawn club coach Christie Hale to retain their mixed doubles title.

Sarah Ball retained her ladies singles title in a closely contested match with Emily Watts. She recovered from 2-5 down in the second set, reeling off five games in a row.

Geoff Spillett also won his first ever S&D title when he was joined by Gill Sanderson to win the over-35 mixed doubles. Ryan Wilson and David Watson also won their first S&D title, winning the men’s doubles in an entertaining match.

The finals were held on Sunday at Deanes Indoor Tennis Centre, in Thundersley.
