SOUTHEND United have now sold more than 11,500 tickets for the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Crewe Alexandra at Wembley next month.

Blues look set to be backed by a huge travelling contingent when they take on the Railwaymen on Sunday April 7.

But a club spokesman was keen to point out there are still thousands of tickets to be sold.

“There are still plenty of tickets available, including pairs and singles in most of the popular areas,” said the spokesman.

“There are a substantial amount of £48 seats available in large blocks as people have been buying in blocks of more than 100.

“We hope the whole town come out to the support the club and fans can play huge part in this snowball effect.”

Tickets for the big game have so far only gone on sale to season card holders, shareholders, Blues lottery members and fans who attended the southern section final of the JPT against Leyton Orient.

They will go on general sale from Wednesday March 13 and Southend look certain be roared on by far more fans than Crewe, whose fans have snapped up around 4,000 tickets so far
