SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock will miss today's game at Port Vale.

The Blues boss was not at the training ground last Thursday and is still suffering from a small infection in his leg.

The Scotsman has been advised by his doctor to rest for a few days but it is hoped he will be back at work on Monday to prepare the team for Tuesday night’s home game against AFC Wimbledon at Roots Hall.

In his absence, assistant manager Graham Coughlan will take charge of the team at Vale Park.
