Southend United manager Paul Sturrock explains change of goalkeeper for Torquay United clash
1:53pm Sunday 17th March 2013 in Sport By Chris Phillips
Daniel Bentley - selected between the sticks for Southend United
SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock insisted he decided to change goalkeepers for Saturday's draw against Torquay in a further bid to freshen up his side.
The Blues boss selected Daniel Bentley between the sticks in place of Paul Smith.
And he was full of praise for Bentley's display.
“I had freshened up the team in most places and thought it was time to do the same in goal,” explained Sturrock.
“I thought Daniel put in a very competent performance too.
“There's an old man trapped in a young body with him and he didn't show any nerves at all.
“He organised the defence well, kicked well and made a couple of good saves too so I was pleased with how he played.”

That throw at the end was a bit dodgy but looks good for the future.
