Updated: Southend United striker Barry Corr has red card overturned
SOUTHEND United have successfully appealed against the red card Barry Corr received at Hartlepool on Saturday.
Corr was sent off by referee Mark Brown after an innocuous clash with Monkeyhangers defender Jack Baldwin.
But that decision has now been overturned and Corr will now not have to serve a three match suspension, much to the delight of Blues boss Phil Brown.
“The red card was very, very soft but you’re never too sure what way these appeals are going to go so we’re delighted it has been overturned,” said Brown.
“Barry was described as a star striker for us after the game on Saturday and I think that’s correct.
“He’s a real focal point in our team and he would have been a big miss for us for three games.
“Thankfully he’s now available and we can go in to Saturday’s game against Northampton with all of our strikers available.”
Corr had been due to miss matches against Northampton Town, Chesterfield and Wycombe Wanderers but will now be available to play.
