Injury worries for Canvey Island ahead of Saints clash
CANVEY Island have injury doubts ahead of their FA Cup clash with St Neots Town at the Prospects Stadium.
With the Gulls currently sat in 14th in the Ryman Premier League, the Gulls have injury concerns over Jay Curren who has a hamstring niggle, while Michael Alaile and Nick Humpheries might also miss out through injury.
But Rio Bryan-Edwards should be fit enough to play after having to get a couple of stitches to a head cut he picked up during Tuesday’s win at Leiston.
And Harrison Chatting is also expected to be in the side after playing 79 minutes and scoring a goal in the same game.
Manager Danny Heale said he hopes his side can go on a good cup run to provide a break from Ryman Premier League fixtures and help them out financially.
Heale said: “The FA Cup still has a certain magic about it and we have a home draw which I am happy with as it’ll give us a bit of extra backing with the crowd getting behind us.
“The cup is really important for non-league clubs like us as there is a lot of money involved. We got £3,000 from the win in the last round and there is £4,500 up for grabs on Saturday.
“We are playing well at the moment so fingers crossed we’ll be OK and get into the hat for Monday’s draw and keep the buzz going around the club.”
