Southend United 1, Bristol Rovers 1 - LIVE
This live event has finished
Phil Brown, Southend United manager: "It was a hard earned point. It wasn’t a great game in the first half. I was thinking of changing things at the break and we then gave away a bad goal.
"We gave ourselves a hill to climb but our goalkeeper didn’t have too many saves to make and Mildenhall was the busiest of the two goalkeepers.
"When you’re down to your last four defenders and you lose one of your main centre-backs it’s frustrating. T
"The fans could see (Mark) Phillips had made the hand signal to say he wanted to come off but as far as I’m concerned he’s a man and he should stay out there until he can no longer walk.
"Why make the change as early as you can? You see if he can run it off but the change was actually a massively positive one in the end.
"Bristol Rovers came for a point and they got one so fair play to them.
"It wasn’t for the want of trying that we didn’t get all three but we just need a bit more quality in the final third and a bit of lady luck too.
"Phillips injured his hip and he couldn’t raise a gallop but hopefully after a couple of days it can settle down.
"Fingers crossed we can one or two in this week.
"We should have had a penalty as well. The ref's got to be looking at the linesman to give him a hand.
"What he doesn’t see I don’t know. It’s a foul, it’s inside or outside the box or it’s a booking for a dive.
"Jack Payne's a young lad, he’s not a cheat and he certainly hasn’t been taught to dive so why would he go down.
"It was an unbelievable decision."
John Ward, Bristol Rovers manager: "The team's attitude was spot on. We were positive when we could be. It’s disappointing to go ahead and then draw but it would be hard for me to Southend didn’t deserve something from that game. They played a big part in a tense match. I’m probably happier than Phil (Brown) because you want to win your homes games. But his team couldn’t have tried any harder and neither could mine. Both teams gave every ounce of effort.
"This first away point is a big thing for us. They’ve all been tight games that we lost but we’ve got something here and we’re happy.
"It’s always popular Matt Harrold scoring against Southend but fair play to him. He’s a good player and he’s getting stronger in every game he plays."

If penalty had been given, it would've been interesting to see if Freddy or Barry Corr had taken it.
Second half is underway
Some people in the press box have seen replays of the incident. Say it was definitely a foul but unclear whether or not it was in the area or just outside.
Think you have to look at the linesman for the penalty that wasn't given there. He was better placed than the referee. Seemed a penalty to me.

Two minutes of added time to be played.

The rest of the changes are as I suggested but it's Jack Payne on the left wing.
Jack Payne coming on to replace the injured Mark Phillips.
Blues seem to be taking an age to make this change.
I'd bring on Michael Timlin here. Put him left wing, Anthony Straker left back, Adam Thompson centre-back & John White right-back.
Both players back on but Phillips can hardly move.
Mark Phillips and Matt Harrold both down after a nasty clash of heads.
It's been a quiet start to the game. 10 minutes in and it's still 0-0. Neither goalkeeper has had a save to make yet.
