Craig Reid bags brace for Southend United in 4-1 friendly win against Crystal Palace
SOUTHEND United striker Craig Reid fired a reminder to manager Phil Brown with a brace of goals in a 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace in a behind closed doors friendly yesterday.
Reid joined the Shrimpers on a free transfer from Aldershot Town during the summer but he has yet to start a single match in League Two this season.
The 27-year-old was handed a rare opportunity to impress against Dagenham & Redbridge in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last week but he was taken off at half-time as Blues suffered a 5-2 defeat.
However, Reid was more impressive against the Eagles as he fired home two well taken goals.
Anthony Straker also hit the back of the net for the Shrimpers while Palace increased the margin of Southend’s victory with an own goal.
The Echo was denied permission to speak to Reid at the end of the game.
