How the ball-boys helped Southend United see off Fleetwood Town
BLUES boss Phil Brown held a pre match team talk with the ball boys to help his side come on out on top against Fleetwood Town on Friday night.
The Shrimpers chief was keen to get the ball back in play as quickly as possible from the empty side of the North Bank.
And he also called on members of the club’s youth team to help make that happen.
“In previous games against Scunthorpe, Morecambe and Bristol Rovers their goalkeeper in front of the stand to our right was taking around 25 seconds to get the ball back in play because there was nobody behind that goal,” said Brown.
“We had a chat with the ball boys and the youth team lads to make sure they got the ball back to their goalkeeper as quickly as we can because it was important to get that tempo to our play and not let it drop.”
