JESSE Jones signed off for the season with a brace of sixth places at a wet Brands Hatch at the weekend.

The results earned the Basildon rider two podiums in the Triumph Triple Challenge Cup competition.

And they helped him secure seventh place in the Cup championship and 10th overall in the challenge standings in his first season in the competition.

“I’m happy with the way things have gone this year because it has been a learning curve for me,” said Jones.

“We pulled out at Cadwell Park earlier in the season and if I had completed those races I might have finished a few places further up.

“But it has been a good season and the plan is to stay in the Triumph Triple Challenge next year.”

Jones said he had received a few approaches about riding in other series but felt it was too soon to step up.

He will spend the winter keeping fit and hopes to test abroad in February ahead of the new season.

Jones qualified eighth on a damp Indy track at Brands Hatch at the weekend and admitted he did not want to push too hard.

A soft set up on the rear meant he lost time in one sector at the Kent track due to a loss of grip.

The first race saw a number of riders come off in the wet but Jones finished sixth and repeated that in the second race.

“I could have pushed harder but I did not want to throw it away, so I was happy with what I did during the races,” he added.
