Basildon boss Laurie Carter buzzing at Louis Baucutt impact
LAURIE Carter has praised the impact of former Southend United youth teamer Louis Baucutt on his emerging Basildon United team.
Baucutt, who has joined the Bees after being released by Canvey, played a key role in the Essex Senior League side’s best win of the season on Saturday – a 6-1 trouncing of Barking at Gardiners Close.
And Carter says that while some of his younger attacking players have been earning the plaudits, Baucutt has played a key role in their side.
He said: “I knew Louis from my days at Southend and he’s doing a good job for us.
“I’m playing him in a holding role in central midfield. He’s breaking up the play for us and giving our younger boys like Ben Sartain and George Cocklin licence to get forward more.
“It’s working well and they are all starting to play the way we want them to play.”
Carter also singled out former Canvey, Billericay and Concord striker Emerka Onwubiko for praise after he claimed a hat-trick on Saturday.
But the manager revealed he may rotate his squad tonight to give other players some game time when they host Takeley in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.
Bees won 3-2 at Takeley 10 days ago in the league, and Carter’s expecting a close game.
He said: “That performance against Takeley was probably even better than how we played on Saturday against Barking, because they are a good team.
“Takeley were very complimentary of us afterwards and I’m expecting this to be another very close game.”
Eton Manor will be dreading their visit to Great Wakering tonight after Rovers smashed them 6-1 in the league on Saturday.
The sides will meet in the Essex Senior League Cup tonight.
Hullbridge also play this evening when they host Stansted in an Essex Senior League match.
