CANVEY’s teenage athletics star Jessica Judd has been nominated for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
The 18-year-old is one of 10 contenders to win the prestigious prize, former winners of which include Tom Daley, Andy Murray and Wayne Rooney.
It is the latest in a long list of end-of-the-year award nominations for middle-distance runner Judd.
The former King John School sixth-former, who is now training full-time, went to her first senior World Championships and dipped inside two minutes for the 800m when winning a first Diamond League in Birmingham.
The winner of the award will be named on Blue Peter on December 12, three days before the awards night takes place in Leeds.
