STUART Bingham will bid to match his career-best showing at the UK Championships when he faces Ireland’s David Morris in the last 16 today.
Bingham, from Vange, has reached the quarter-finals three times before and he’ll be hoping to at least match that this year with victory over Morris, who booked his spot on this season’s tour through the qualifying school.
Morris ended the eye-catching run of Sheffield amateur Mitchell Travis in the tournament with a 6-1 win.
The Irishman hit top runs of 71, 58 and 76 to set up the meeting with world number 10 Bingham, who had earlier beaten Scot Anthony McGill 6-2 to progress at the Barbican Centre.
Bingham had already seen off Qatari pro Ahmed Saif and snooker legend Jimmy White during his run in York.
