GOLFERS played their monthly medal competitions in sodden conditions at the Rayleigh Golf Club.

Kevin South (13) took the division one prize with a nett 74, beating Dave Tyrrell (also a 13 handicapper) who came into the clubhouse with a nett 76.

The division two prize went to John Crawley (17) who finished with a nett 74 ahead of Malcolm Reynolds (18) who had a nett 75.

Day two saw Kevin Tibble (six) win division one on countback from Colin Brett (nine) when both finished with a nett 68 Andrew Lough (17) was the only golfer to finish in division two coming in with a nett 69.

On the East Course, the veterans and ladies completed their summer eclectic competitions.

Taking the division one title was John Souster ahead of Derek Prentice with overall scores of 51.9 and 53.1 respectively Mike Byrne took the division two prize beating Bill Cresswell who had scores of 55.7 and 58.0 Taking the ladies title for division one was Fran Worrow while Joan Gardiner took division two.

Ruth Humphreys was the overall winner.

The Rayleigh Club Academy played a competition which saw Jamie Hammond take the prize coming in with 18 points beating Matthew Rayner and Tom Marshall who finished with scores of 12 and eight points.
