FORMER AFC Hornchurch players Reiss Noel and Joe Woolley have been fined by an Australalian court after admitting match-fixing.

The pair pleaded guilty to conduct that corrupts a betting outcome at Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

Noel and Woolley, who are both 24 , had been playing for Southern Stars in the Victorian Premier League.

They were charged following match-fixing allegations during a four-match spell when the Southern Stars conceded 13 goals without scoring.

Noel and Woolley was fined the equivalent of £1,100 and £650 respecively for their part in helping to fix games in Australia for a global betting syndicate.

Malaysian Segaran Gsubramaniam also pleaded guilty to the charge and will be sentenced next year, while three other men are awaiting trial for match-fixing.

The case came as Britain's National Crime Agency investigate allegations of match-fixing in football.

Seven men were arrested last week following the NCA probe and two of them, Chann Sankaran, 33, of Hawthorn Road, Hastings, East Sussex, and Krishna Sanjey Ganeshan, 43, of Hougang Avenue, Singapore, appeared before Cannock magistrates last Friday.

They were charged with plotting to defraud bookmakers but were not asked to plead. The pair were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on December 13.

The other five men arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
