ROCHFORD Hundred’s stand in skipper Tom Ashton bagged 37 points to help his side thrash Lowestoft & Yarmouth 92-10.

Ashton scored three tries and 11 conversions to help Hundred thrash the bottom of the table visitors.

And the manner of the victory delighted their first team manager Graham Pratt.

“A result like this had to happen sometime and unfortunately Lowestoft & Yarmouth were the ones on the receiving end,” said Pratt.

“To their credit they never gave up the chase and early on they competed well to make us work hard to get the upper hand.

“But it was an excellent performance from us and it should help boost confidence before taking on local rivals Basildon next week in the final league game before Christmas which will be a much sterner test for us.”

Rochford went in front with a try from winger Tom Pickering before Lowestoft hit back with a penalty.

However, Hundred’s Scott Horsburgh then touched for a try Ashton converted but Lowestoft replied with a try following an intercepted pass to cut their hosts’ lead to 12-10.

But Rochford then started to run away with things with Tom Corbet scoring twice before Ashton and Dan Needham also went over.

Ashton converted all four efforts to hand Hundred a 40-10 lead at half-time but the scoring did not slow down after the break as Rochford bagged another eight tries.

Horsborough touched down first before Louis Warner added another two of his own.

Corbet then completed his hat-trick of tries and Reece Levy and Marcus Spremulli soon followed him in touching down.

Ashton then also completed his hat-trick to complete a memorable day for Rochford who are now fourth in the London Two North East standings.
