EASTERN Premier Division leaders Billericay Town triumphed 5-0 at Colchester Town in their fifth successive away game.

The match started slowly as both sides struggled to settle on a heavy pitch.

But Billericay went in front in the 25th minute when Steph Poleykett crossed for Emma Roberts to fire home.

Within minutes of the restart Fran Lainsey won the ball again in midfield and chipped the ball over Colchester’s rearguard before Nikki Dunsdon beat the defender in the air and headed past the keeper.

Those two quick goals affected Colchester’s play and Billericay used this to their advantage and started to play the ball around nicely.

As a result they soon made it 3-0 when Poleykett whipped the ball into the penalty area and Lisa Silverton nodded home.

Moments later, they went even further in front when Dunsdon floated a free kick into the top right-hand corner of the net.

The second half saw both teams cancel each other out and it took until the 80th minute for Billericay to score their final goal of the game.

Good link up play between Sarah Bovington and Marie Barker saw Bovington through on goal and she lofted the ball over the keeper to score.

Billericay will now be looking to build on the win when they host Stevenage on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
