RAVI Bopara has signed a new one-year deal with Essex which will see him at Chelmsford for the 2014 season.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract with the club for a further year,” said 28-year-old Bopara.

“I was pleased with how my season went in 2013 both domestically and internationally for Essex and England, respectively. “I am now looking to continue this form into the new season with Essex where we can hopefully win some silverware.”

Essex head coach Paul Grayson was pleased Bopara had committed himself to the club and said he showed last season why he is an important assett to the club.

“We know that one of his key aims is to be playing international cricket with England but when he’s in an Essex shirt, he has shown what a devastating player he can be,” Grayson added. “He will of course continue to be a key member of the team next year and I hope he will carry on his form across all formats of the game.”

The Essex all-rounder will be heading to Australia with England’s one-day squad for the forthcoming ODI and T20 series down under in January.

Bopara made his debut for Essex in 2002 and has played 138 First Class matches and scored more than 8,000 runs.
