ALEX Harrison will be aiming to continue his new found try scoring form when Southend visit Shelford in National Two South tomorrow.

The on loan Wasps full-back has touched down in the Seasiders’ last two games.

And the 18-year-old now wants to try and make it three in a row as fifth placed Southend chase a sixth win in seven games.

“It’s been nice to get the tries in my last couple of games to help the team win and it would be great if something similar could happen again tomorrow,” said Harrison.

“The results have been going well and we’ve won our last two games so it would be great to go and make that three by beating Shelford as well.”

Harrison will be aiming to play a prominent part in that happening as he continues his development with the Seasiders.

The talented teenager still has his sights set on playing in the Premiership with Wasps.

And he is certain playing regular National League rugby can improve the chances of that happening.

“Playing at a good level like this is great for me and I’ve really enjoyed the matches with Southend so far,” said Harrison.

“I needed to improve the physical side of my game and coming out to play mens rugby is therefore far more beneficial for me than playing in under 18 games.

“I’m still in the senior academy at Wasps and my dream is to still play in the first team there as I’ve been a fan of the club since a very young age.

“But at the moment my main targets are to make the full-back spot my own at Southend and to make sure I keep on improving because I still feel there’s more to come from me.”

Harrison, who trains one night a week with Southend, was named as Wasps Apprentice Player of the Year of 2013 and came to Warners Bridge due to coach Kevin Harman’s involvement at both clubs.

Harrison will now be aiming to impress at 12th placed Shelford but the home-side will be looking to build on the unexpected win they secured at high-flying Cambridge last weekend.

Southend look set to welcome back second row Adam Ferrier, who has been out of action since late October with a hamstring injury, but centre Liam MacGeachy (knee) has again been ruled out.
