SOUTHEND United boss Phil Brown is sweating on the fitness of skipper John White after he was forced to come off with a shoulder injury towards the end of Saturday’s 4-1 win against Millwall.

White was replaced by Mark Phillips in the dying seconds of the Shrimpers’ shock FA Cup success.

But Brown is hoping the reliable right-back will have recovered in time to take on Plymouth Argyle this weekend.

“John’s shoulder popped out and he had to have it put back in again,” said Brown.

“I did the same thing in training last week and was back training the next day so it’s a little test for John.

“He’s an important player for us though so we will monitor him throughout the week and fingers crossed he will be OK for the weekend.”
