BLUES boss Phil Brown is keen to sign Adam Thompson on a permanent basis.
The centre-back completed his initial six month long loan spell from Watford by coming back in to the starting line-up for Saturday’s 4-1 win against Millwall.
But Brown does not want it to be Thompson’s last game for the game.
“We’ve spoken to Watford and also Adam and we want to him to stay with us,” said Brown.
“We’re actually looking at getting something done that would keep him here beyond the end of the season because his contract is up at Watford then and we want to try and get it sorted.
“I put him back in to the team against Millwall and asked him to prove a point which he certainly did because he was very impressive back there.”
Thompson has made 11 appearances for the Shrimpers and has also captained Northern Ireland’s under 21 team this term.
