I HAVE to say I think the television channels have missed a massive trick by deciding not to screen our forthcoming FA Cup clash against Hull City.

For me it’s the glamour tie of the round and has all the ingredients of what the romance of the FA Cup is all about.

You have a side in League Two hosting a Premier League club and you have a manager coming up against his former team.

Steve Bruce is a high profile manager doing a great job and, with everything that went on in our game with Millwall in the previous round last Saturday, you would’ve thought we would’ve been an attractive proposition.

However, the television companies have their own agenda and reasons they must stick to and now it’s up to us to get our act together and try and get a game in the fifth round that might get shown!

The win against Millwall certainly gave everyone a huge lift and the spirit around the club is the best I have known since I’ve been here.

The 20 man embargo has perhaps brought the squad even closer together and I think the trip to Madrid during pre-season certainly helped as well.

We had four days together instead of just being in for training and I think that helped everyone to get to know each other much better.

Results certainly help but we had a great spirit even before we started to get the victories and I think we just have a group here which genuinely get along with each other.

We also have that competition for places and I certainly have a real selection dilemma for Saturday’s game at Plymouth Argyle.

I decided to rest Kevan Hurst for the Millwall match as he had a slight injury and Mark Phillips also missed out against his former side.

Conor Clifford and Adam Thompson both came in and grabbed the opportunity with both hands so I now have plenty to be thinking about.

But it is only this weekend’s match that is currently in our minds and I will certainly not be letting this group of players lose focus because we have a big FA Cup game coming up.

JOHN WHITE AND JULIAN BENNETT VISIT INJURY SPECIALIST

JOHN White and Julian Bennett both went to visit the same specialist about their injuries yesterday.

At this moment in time we’re still waiting to hear back about what he said but we’re certainly hopeful of them both getting some good news.

Julian has been out since the second game of the season with the cruciate ligament injury he suffered against Yeovil Town.

But we’re hoping he may get the green light to be able to start running again.

He’s still a million miles away from full contact training and we’re certainly not jumping the gun at this stage but he is making good progress.

Last time he had an injury like this he was out for 13 or 14 months so he’s ahead of that timescale at the moment and that’s testament to the hard work he has been putting in along with our medical staff.

John’s shoulder also popped up towards the end of our game with Millwall at the weekend but he’s an important player for us so fingers crossed he won’t be forced out of action.

TALKING OVER CRAIG REID'S FUTURE

I’VE held talks with Craig Reid about his situation at the club this week.

He’s obviously frustrated at not getting games and, out of everyone, he’s not really had a big chance.

He has an axe to grind but there’s a still long way to go this season and that’s exactly what I also said to him.

We also have one or two things bubbling away when it comes to bringing people in to the club but we’re certainly not in any rush to make it happen at this stage.
