BLUES striker Barry Corr was forced to come off at half-time against Newport County after suffering a whack to the head.
The Irishman was suffering double vision during the break.
And Shrimpers boss Phil Brown insisted there was no option but to substitute the striker.
"Barry had double vision and we just had to get him off," said Brown.
"The plan was to actually take Lee Barnard off after 45 minutes because he hasn't played many games.
"But we had to keep him on and him being out there for an hour will do him the world of good."
