SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has made three changes to his starting line-up for tonight’s game at Northampton Town with Lee Barnard, Marc Laird and Mark Phillips all coming back in to the side.
Phillips has replaced the injured Cian Bolger at centre-back while a calf injury to Adam Thompson has forced another positional change for the Shrimpers with John White moving alongside Phillips and Ryan Leonard on the right hand side of the defence.
Laird has come in to the midfield for his first start since playing at Torquay in December while Barnard has come back in to the side in attack after recovering from an illness.
As a result, Kevan Hurst has dropped down on to the bench where he will be joined by Jack Payne despite Brown hinting he may start.
Southend United: Bentley, Leonard, White, Phillips, Coker, Atkinson, Laird, Timlin, Straker, Barnard, Corr
Substitutes: P Smith, Eastwood, Hurst, Payne, Banton, Williams & Gomis
