Southend United manager Phil Brown: "This is not a crisis because we are still in the play offs.
"It's nothing to do with the system. Systems don't win you games, it's the mentality of the players that does.
"One or two harsh words were said after the game and things were pointed out to certain players.
"Northampton deserved the win and we just didn't fight like they did in the second half which frustrates me."
"The first half our battling capabilities were there for all to see but they weren't in the second."
