BILLERICAY’S hopes of reaching Twickenham were ended by a 22-19 defeat to Seaford in the semi-finals of the RFU Junior Vase.

The Essex One leaders had worked their way to within three wins of an appearance at the home of English rugby.

But first team manager Andy Beck has urged his side to now turn their attentions towards winning promotion.

“Of course we’re disappointed to have lost but our focus now needs to switch straight back to the league and making sure we get promotion,” said Beck.

“We weren’t really firing on all cylinders at the weekend but it was still a very even contest. However, our next game is against Writtle and we will have to make sure we’re completely ready for it.”

Harry Beck kicked 14 of Billericay’s points against Seaford while Daffyd Mugford bagged an unconverted try.
