KEVAN Hurst has signed a new two year deal to stay with Southend United.

The winger's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season.

But the 28-year-old, who is the Shrimpers top scorer with 11 goals so far this term, has now put pen to paper on a new two year deal

Hurst said: "The club is only going to keep moving forwards under the gaffer, he’s been absolutely terrific since he came to the club.

“I’ve said all along that I wanted to remain with Southend United and I’m over the moon now that it has all been agreed.

“Having been here nearly two years, I’ve really settled in the area and I’ve always had a really good relationship with the fans"
