Gareth Ainsworth, Wycombe Wanderers manager: "It’s a very good point away from home because Southend is a tough place to come especially when they're itching for a win.

“We definitely had a bit of luck with the goal but sometimes you need that.

“I felt sorry for their keeper because he had an excellent game and he didn't deserve that but it's great for us.”

"We dealt well with Southend's pressure and they were very direct when attacking utilising Barry Corr's ability in the air.

“We struggled a bit near the end but we dug in and I'm proud of them today because this is another good result which keeps this little run we’re on going.”

Southend United manager Phil Brown: "Their goal was just remarkable and it’s just the way things are going for us at the moment it seems.

“We got ourselves in front and weren’t looking in any danger until Wycombe get a break like that.

“Daniel Bentley is despondent about what happened but it’s not his fault at all. It was just very bad luck and it made for a frustrating day.

“Quite frankly, some of Wycombe’s tactics and how long they took to take goal kicks and throw ins was embarrassing.

“I mentioned it to the fourth official and he told me the only way to speed up the game was to score a goal.

“Our run without a win has now got longer but we will continue to work hard to turn things around and I think getting that one win will change everything for us.”
