BARRY Corr insists Southend United are out to prove their doubters wrong.

The seventh-placed Shrimpers have now not triumphed in their last nine games.

But Corr is certain Blues will soon be back on track.

And the striker is expecting to pick up points at both Morecambe and Scunthorpe United in the side’s next two games.

“People may have started to doubt us but we’re determined to prove them wrong and I know we’ll do that in the next couple of games,” said Corr, 28.

“We’re the same team we were 10 games ago when we were enjoying an excellent run of just one defeat in 15.

“We’ve not just become a bad side.

“We’re still working as hard as ever to turn this form around and I’m confident we will do that.”

The Shrimpers’ dip in form has left them sweating on a place in the play-offs.

Eighth-placed Plymouth Argyle are now just two points behind Phil Brown’s side with a game in hand.

But Corr is certain the players are feeling the pain just as much as the supporters.

“For us as players, this is our lives and our job, and we’re hurting more than anymore at the moment with the way things have gone,” said the forward.

“We are working as hard as ever to turn this form around and we genuinely have not had luck on our side in the last few weeks.

“You look back at the deflected strikes against Plymouth and Dagenham & Redbridge which Dan Bentley couldn’t do anything about.

“The goals that Hartlepool United and Exeter City scored were world class that flew into the top corners.

“Then on Saturday, you’ll be hard pushed to find a more unfortunate goal this season, so it is frustrating but we’re all still positive we can turn things around.”

Blues will be bidding to do that at Morecambe this weekend.

And, having won there 3-0 in the FA Cup last November, Corr is confident of coming out on top.

“We’ve been to Morecambe already this season and put in a really good performance, so hopefully we can produce the same kind of display on Saturday,” said the Irishman.

“A little bit of luck might help but hard work and a positive performance will be the most important thing.”

Corr will also be looking to get on to the score-sheet after netting twice in his last four games.

He added: “It’s been nice to find the back of the net again because I’ve found it tough at times this season.

“But I’ve always said the team is most important thing and turning this form around is more important than me finding the back of the net.”
