Southend United skipper John White: "It was a great feeling to score, especially as I was so close to the fans when it went in.
"Making sure we got something from the game mattered more and I thought we might go on to win it.
"But we now need to go on and make sure we play like we did in the second half on a more regular basis once again."
John White had gone 11 years and 301 games without hitting the back of the net.
Southend United manager Phil Brown: “Statisticians may look at this and say it’s another game without a win but this is a fabulous result for us.
“One of the Scunthorpe coaches asked me at the end what we put in the players’ tea at half-time but we just concentrated on trying to turn their centre backs.
“The catalyst was probably Freddy Eastwood coming on and maybe it’s time for him to start now.
"But we have to go on and build on that second half display now."

Blues make their last change with Michael Timlin coming on for Conor Clifford
Conor Clifford shoots inches wide of the left post from just inside the area
John White scores for the first time ever. It was a cross but who cares! It sails over the keeper's head from the right wing and flies in to the top left hand corner of the net.
GOAL. Scunthorpe 2, Blues 2. John White
What a goal from John Egan. He sent a stunning 35 yard volley flying in to the roof of the net.

Anthony Straker on for Will Atkinson
There are a group of Blues fans holding up some arrows behind the goal their side are attacking in this half.
Anthony Straker looks like he could be about to come on
Blues could finally be heading out of the play-offs. Plymouth are 1-0 up at Wycombe

Two minutes of added on time to be played.
The ref has another word with Barry Corr and also brings in captain John White.
A right wing free-kick from Gary McShreffey found Sam Winnall in front of goal and the striker flicked the ball home from close range.
Scunthorpe 2, Blues 0. Sam Winnall
Harsh booking for Ben Coker who seemed to win the ball there.
Sam Winnall's eight yard header is superbly saved by Daniel Bentley who tips the ball wide of the right post.
Kevan Hurst's well struck 25 yard shot is gathered by the keeper at the second attempt.
The ref has already spoken to Barry Corr twice. Wouldn't be surprised if he was booked soon.
There have been two changes for Southend in their starting line-up tonight with Conor Clifford & Marc Laird both coming in to the side. Michael Timlin and Anthony Straker have dropped down on to the bench.
Southend: Bentley, White, Phillips, Egan, Coker, Leonard, Laird, Clifford, Hurst, Corr, Atkinson

Paddy Madden's right wing cross was only partially cleared by Mark Phillips. Matt Sparrow latched on to the loose ball and fired a well struck left footed shot in to the roof of the net from 12 yards.
