Bury boss David Flitcroft: “It was a very scrappy game but we dug in and our defence were very resilient today which I'm proud about.
“There was a spell in the first half that I was really pleased with, we pressed Southend and we looked a threat going forward.
Flitcroft also decided to change goalkeepers at the break with Reice Charles-Cook coming on for Brian Jensen.
And the Shakers chief felt it was the correct decision
“Brian kept giving away possession with his kicks and it frustrated me as I like to keep the ball so I brought the young lad on to make his debut,” added Flitcroft.
Southend United manager Phil Brown: "We’ve had 14 clean sheets now this season and with a record like that we should be top of the league not down in seventh.
“Our midfield is our strongest area and I think we just need to sort things out in the final third now.
“We’re lacking that bit of quality there at the moment and we gave Freddy Eastwood a go up there today.
“If I was him I would be frustrated by the service I got but, at the same time, the Freddy of old would’ve taken the chances that came his way out there.
“I think we’ve know Barry is the only striker we have who is capable of playing the number nine role but he’s suspended now and I think it’s likely we look at bringing in someone on loan.
“It’s another frustrating day though and it’s crazy we’re still in the play-offs.”
“I spoke to the linesman and he said he thought Barry had head-butted their lad.
“I’m not sure if it was captured on camera but I’ll certainly be reviewing it and seeing what actually happened.”
Blues 0, Bury 0
Four minutes of injury time to be played
Barry Corr had been tangling with Frederic Veseli as the players walked from penalty area to half way line before the defender just sat down. The linesman then flagged, called the referee over and he sent off the striker.
The red card came after Barry Corr clashed with Frederic Veseli
Barry Corr has been sent off
John Egan booked for a foul
10 minutes to go and it's still 0-0
Lee Barnard comes on for Anthony Straker
My guess would be Marc Laird or Straker going off. But I'll probably be wrong!
Lee Barnard looks like he is about to come on
20 minutes to go and it's still 0-0.
Ryan Leonard booked for a foul on Jean Louis Akpa-Akpro
Attendance: 5, 680 with 181 from Bury
Bury also make a change with Clive Platt coming on for Ashley Grimes
Blues make a double change. Barry Corr on for Freddy Eastwood and Will Atkinson on for Conor Clifford.
I know I'll get shot down by some of you for saying this but Freddy Eastwood has been quite poor today.
Best chance of the game so far. Anthony Straker tees up Freddy Eastwood who turns and fires over from eight yards.
Pablo Mills booked for a foul on Ryan Leonard
My match report is currently four lines long!
This is Reice Charles-Cook's debut for Bury. Bury reporters don't think Brian Jensen was injured.
The second half is underway
Bury change goalkeepers at half-time with Reice Charles-Cook coming on for Brian Jensen.
Teams are out for the second half.
Those stats say it all really
Blues shots on target: 0, Corners 1. Bury shots on target: 0, Corners 1.
Fancy Barry Corr to score the winner.
Blues 0, Bury 0
Chris Hussey booked for handball
Neither goalkeeper has had a save to make yet.
Blues not keeping the ball well enough in the final third at the moment. Keep giving it away.
Kevan Hurst shoots wide of the right post from 20 yards
Great cross from Anthony Straker flies across the face of goal but no Blues player is there to fire it home.
Tuttes breaks the offside trap and his right wing cross is parried away by Daniel Bentley. Danny Mayor's shot was then blocked by Marc Laird.
Phil Brown seems very fired up on the sidelines. Contesting a number of decisions.
Ryan Leonard charges forward and shoots over the crossbar from 25 yards
10 minutes in and it's still 0-0. Not many chances so far.
The game is underway. Come on you Blues!
Big day for Jakub Sokolik too as he makes his Blues debut in defence. No Mark Phillips in the squad.
We all want Freddy to do well. But does he still have it? We'll find out more today.
This is Freddy Eastwood's first start since Bristol Rovers at home in September. He had been on bench for the last 20 games. Big chance for him now.
Quite confident Blues will win today. Are you?
